The holy Prophet(SAW):The world will not come to an end until a man from my family (ahl al-bayt), who will be called al-Mahdi, emerges to rule upon my community.(Bihar al-anwar,V51,P75)

Imam Sadiq(AS) through the eyes of the others

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, most Merciful

Imam Sadiq(AS) through the eyes of the others

‘I swear to god, whenever his lips moved, nothing but the truth would be heard’
Abu Hanifa says: the most knowledgeable of men is Jafar ibn Sadiq(AS), and again Abu Hanifa narrates regarding the great imam that when the abbasid caliph Mansoor called the imam over to Iraq because the caliph feared that the imam would influence the shias of Iraq. This fact had the caliph terrified and had shaken him to his roots, it was for this reason that the caliph sent someone over to me with the message that ‘O Abu Hanifa! Jafar ibn Mohammad has taken my peace from me and I want you to create some difficult religious and legal questions so that we can be able to test and question him. Therefore I found forty of the most difficult and twisted legal and religious questions and with a state of perplexity went to Mansoor. Time had not passed that they brought Imam Jafar Sadiq(AS) into the court room and was given a seat on the right side of the abbasid caliph. When my eyes fell upon the imam, the greatness of the great man made my body tremble. Mansoor then introduced me to the imam and the imam in reply said: yes I know him! Mansoor then turned towards me and said: O Abu Hanifa ask Abu Abdullah your questions. I then started to ask the Imam questions one by one. however the imam would answer my questions without any hesitation and would explain in such a way that he would say that ‘regarding this question you answer it like this, the people of Medina answer it in such a way and my view is such’. We sometimes agree with you sometimes with the scholars of Medina and sometimes we disagree with both your views.

Even though the abbasid caliph Mansoor was a outspoken and open enemy of Imam Sadiq(AS) even he had no other choice but to speak the truth about the Imam and regarding Hazrat Sadiq he said: this Great personality is stuck in my throat like a bone and is the most knowledgeable man of his time.
